web server

Software that lets the people on the Internet read HTML pages off your hard disk. It makes you into a mini ISP. You might also install a webserver to speed up link checking by a program like CyberSpyder. Free servers include:

Apache (Win NT). (Select 'Apache for Win32')
Microsoft Personal Server (Win 98). See the install CD under the subdirectory add-ons\PWS.
Microsoft Personal Server (Win 95/NT).
OmniHTTPd v1.01 (Win95).
Windows HTTPD or Xitami from TUCOWS (Win3.1).
