Wassup: Free utility with Java source that tells you what's up with your Java environment, CLASSPATH, vendor, JVM, all the system properties. Works either as an Applet or application. You can download it with Java source and run it as a stand-alone application, or you can run it online as an Applet now.
JavaVersion is a similar program that concentrates just on the Java version. If the desired version is not installed, it redirects the browser to another page of your choosing to explain the problem.
