TweakDUN
A free program that lets you fine tune the way TCP/IP works, e.g. the MTU packet size. It also provides a convenient editor for the hosts. file which maps DNS names to IP numbers. On Windows 98, this file is stored in C:\Windows\hosts. For NT and Windows 2000 the file is stored in C:\WINNT\system32\drivers\etc\hosts. TweakDUN will automatically find it for you, and automatically update entries. You put entries in the hosts. file either because they are not real DNS names, (e.g. 127.0.0.1 localhost ), or because you use them so often you want fast lookup, e.g.
