System Tray
In windows, usually at the bottom of the screen is the task bar. On the far left are icons for frequently used programs. In the middle are icons for running programs, on the far right are small icons also for running programs. These small icons are called the system tray. Right clicking them lets you interact with the running program, usually exit and restore. Since the system tray does not exist in other operating systems, Java does not directly support it. However, you can use it via some JNI code.
