sniffer

Sometimes called a packet sniffer or protocol sniffer. A tool for watching the data flowing in and out of your computer over the internet. Sometimes the tool will be specialised just to watch HTML traffic.

Ethereal is easy to set up, and you can fairly easily trigger a capture to a file. The problem is overwhelm. By default it captures all traffic on your Ethernet card.
OWASP Webscarab gets between your browser and your server (and reports on the HTTP conversations going back and forth). It can also deal with SSL. This is a higher level, more convenient, interface than the Ethereal IP packet level, but less general.
