Quicken Deluxe 2001

Quicken 2002 Deluxe is the most popular software for Windows 95/98/ME/NT/2000/XP and the Mac for balancing your chequebook and doing personal finances. Unbelievable as it sounds, its maker, Intuit, has convinced a great many banks, credit unions and credit card companies to interface directly to it electronically over the Internet. You have an up to the minute statement in your machine at the click of a mouse. Setting up is a snap. For MasterCard I did it from my computer in about 2 minutes. The user interface is well polished. The only fault I find is date formats. Quicken offers no way to extend the lame operating system date configuration options you set in Start | Start | Settings Control Panel | Regional Setting | Date. I would be nice if you could get Canadian government standard yyyy.mm.dd, iso yyyy-mm-dd or other popular patterns like yyyy/mm/dd, or perhaps some Java-like four-digit year formats like 2001/Dec/31. There is a sneak question very early in the install process it is easy to overlook -- do you want the US or the Canadian version. You can`t change your mind later.

In Canada, you can buy preprinted forms so you can have it print cheques for you. I presume there is an equivalent source for American users. My credit union is going Internet in 2001 April. Presumably, I will won't have to write paper cheques and mail them anymore. You can download a free trial version. Beware, there are websites that may have nothing to do with Quicken that attempt to masquerade as the official Intuit site.

They also make a program called a Turbo Tax used for preparing Income Tax.
