You are here : home : Java Glossary : P words : preprocessor.

preprocessor
Java does not have an official preprocessor. You can alway use C/C++'s, cpp. However, Java does guarantee to eliminate dead code inside an if like this:

static final boolean DEBUGGING = false;

if ( DEBUGGING )
   {
   System.out.println(i);
   }

The code inside the if still has to be valid. Unfortunately you can't use the technique, for example, to select one of two different import statements.
