MRJ: Apple's Macintosh Runtime for Java, the Java runtime for MacOS computers. Equivalent of the JRE on other platforms. Comes with MacOS system CD as of MacOS 8. Version numbers are a bit screwy: MRJ 1.0 implements JDK 1.0.2, MRJ 2.0 implements JDK 1.1, MRJ 2.1 implements JDK 1.1.6. MRJ is a runtime only -- for development tools, you need the MRJ SDK. Download. Apple provides the entire JDK. They don't have a separate stripped down JRE for end users. Signed Applets don't run in IE or Netscape, though they should in IE 5.0 and Netscape 5.0. In the meantime you can test with the AppletViewer.
