MP3: A compressed format mainly for music, but also for video. You can fit about ten times as many songs on a CD in MP3 format as in standard uncompressed format. Crescendo, or Winamp can play MP3 files they find on websites. Napster helps people share files in MP3 format. Click to test your browser's MP3 support MP4 offers greater compression (i.e. faster downloads), but it requires royalties.
