MASM: Microsoft Assembler. Converts assembler code to machine code. It can generate 16 bit or 32 bit code for DOS, Windows or NT. The current version is 6.15. You can upgrade version 6.11 or later free with a downloadable patch. The term is often used generically for any assembler code written for the Intel 80x86 or Pentium processors. The main competitor is Borland's TASM.
