keystore
In JDK 1.2/1.4, the .keystore file contains your public and private keys. The peculiar leading dot makes the file hidden in unix. It lives in your account directory e.g.: C:\WINNT\Profiles\Administrator\.keystore or C:\Documents and Settings\your name\.keystore

.keystore is stored in jks format similar to PKCS #12 containing both public and private keys, protected by a passphrase. The first four signature bytes of a Sun .keystore file in hex are FEEDFEED.

.keystore Finder/Viewer ¤ cacerts ¤ certificate ¤ keyman: a more user-friendly .keystore manipululator ¤ keytool ¤ PKCS
