JIMI: a pure Java package for reading and saving various formats of image files, such as GIF and JPG. Sun now owns it. In Java 2 it has been replaced by Advanced Imaging classes such as com.sun.image.codec.jpeg.JPEGImageEncoder interface. Even though they are distributed as part of the JDK, they are not considered part of the standard API. Look in the 2D documentation.
