It works much like java.exe except instead of running the program it takes the class file apart and shows you how it works at the byte code level. e.g.

javap.exe -classpath . -c -private -s -verbose com.mindprod.Bio.Biorhythms

You must specify the fully qualified class name, without the .class extension. The -c option lets you see byte codes. -private displays all methods, even private ones. -s shows method signatures, mainly of interest to JNI programers.
