Hibernate: Hibernate object/relational persistence and query service for Java. Hibernate lets you develop persistent classes following the common Java idioms including association, inheritance, polymorphism, composition and the Java collections framework. The Hibernate Query Language is an object-oriented extension to SQL to provide a bridge between the object and relational worlds. You had best learn SQL and JDBC first, then learn this shortcut built on top of them. It is a peculiar name for a high-performance interface.
