GIF Encoder: Software that lets you save an image as a GIF file. The most straight-forward solution would be to use Java 1.4.2 and ImageIO, but Sun does not yet support writing gifs, just reading them with the default set of encoders. Use png or jpg instead. The problem is legal. There are still some patents on gif format outstanding. Here is the source for a GIFEncoder:
