code names: Software before it is released often has a temporary internal name. It is given a more dignified, often purely numeric name on release. The idea is to make the product sound unusually exciting and innovative. The message is, don't buy our competitor's actual product, something really astounding is coming down the pipe from us. Here are a list of some of the code names of the various Java releases. Since the code names are never officially released, there is no problem with trademarks and copyrights.
