You are here : home : Java Glossary : B words : blank.

blank
A string containing only blank characters i.e x.length() != 0 && x.trim().length() == 0 , e.g. "  " . This definition excludes the empty string "" . One of the most common sources of error in Java programs comes from confusing the three different flavours of void strings: blank, empty and null.
