~ Albert Einstein
Bush family business associate in WW II.
People often compare Bush and Hitler because of the way they both suspended democratic constitutions. They are quite different. Could you for example imagine George Bush Jr. saying or even so much as thinking the following things:
"Naturally the common people don't want war: Neither in Russia, nor in
England, nor for that matter in Germany. That is understood. But, after all, it
is the leaders of the country who determine the policy and it is always a simple
matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist
dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice,
the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy.
All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the
peacemakers for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works
the same in any country."
~ Hermann Goering, President of the Reichstag, Nazi Party, and Luftwaffe
Commander in Chief
"The lie can be maintained only for such time as the State can shield the
people from the political, economic and/or military consequences of the lie. It
thus becomes vitally important for the State to use all of its powers to repress
dissent, for the truth is the mortal enemy of the lie, and thus by extension,
the truth is the greatest enemy of the State."
~ Joseph Goebbels, German Minister of Propaganda, 1933-1945

fear it to imitate it."

"A war with Iraq will gratify our need to avenge September 11. It does not matter that Iraq is not the culprit. Bush needs only to ignore the evidence. Which he does with all the power of a man who has never been embarrassed by himself. Saddam, for all his crimes, did not have a hand in September 11, but President Bush is a philosopher. September 11 was evil, Saddam is evil, all evil is connected. Ergo, Iraq ... If I were George W. Bush's karmic defense attorney, I would argue that his best chance to avoid conviction as a purveyor of false morality would be to pray for a hung jury in the afterworld."~ Norman Mailer
"Not only does President Bush ignore his ethical responsibilities in matters of environmental stewardship, he fails to understand the complex relationship between economics and environmental concerns and the longtime consequences of setting policies slanted so strongly in favor of the energy industry."~ Russell Train a lifelong Republican who played a key role in forging environmental policy under Presidents Nixon and Ford.

In doing so, the President broke the basic bond of trust between government and the people. ~ Albert Nerenerg"Technically, a moron is someone who is stupid but looks normal."
~ Jean Chrétien"George Bush is not a moron... he is my friend."
~ Doug Bandow, senior fellow with the Cato Institute"President George W. Bush's speech on Iraq is significant mostly because it reveals that he long ago made a decision for war and has always viewed the inspection process as an impediment to war to be overcome rather than a means to avoid war."
~ Scott Ritter, former head weapons inspector for the USA."No one has substantiated the allegations that Iraq possesses weapons of mass destruction or is attempting to acquire weapons of mass destruction. And of course that is the reason we have been given for going to war against Iraq -- because of the threat posed by these weapons. It has been nothing but rhetorically laced speculation, not hard facts, that have been presented by either the United States or Great Britain to back this up, and until they provide hard facts, there is no case for war."
~ Maurene Dowd, Bush: The Xanax Cowboy"It still confuses many Americans that, in a world full of vicious slimeballs, we're about to bomb one that didn't attack us on 9/11 (like Osama); that isn't intercepting our planes (like North Korea); that isn't financing Al Qaeda (like Saudi Arabia); that isn't home to Osama and his lieutenants (like Pakistan); that isn't a host body for terrorists (like Iran, Lebanon and Syria)."
~ Aldous Huxley"One of the great attractions of patriotism - it fulfills our worst wishes. In the person of our nation we are able, vicariously, to bully and cheat. Bully and cheat, what's more, with a feeling that we are profoundly virtuous."
~ Bill Maher, HBO's Real Time With Bill Maher"The bad news is that North Korea has restarted its nuclear reactors, so we know that they could soon have a nuke that could hit the west coast here in California. The president has said that this is still not a crisis because they don't have one that could hit a red [Republican] state."
We joke about Bush, but his gross incompetence is extremely dangerous. He has the power to kill us all by triggering nuclear war. Everyone laughs at him, yet almost everyone is afraid to tell him that his performance and behaviour is just not acceptable and demand that he resign for the good of the country, and enroll in a appropriate Twelve Step Program modelled on AA ( Alcoholics Anonymous). The cabinet and the country must stop acting as enablers to Bush Jr.'s addictive behaviour whether it be substance abuse or addiction to power. He is way over his depth. He is like Mickey Mouse in The Sorcerer's Apprentice.
Ironically, if someone showed up to work and started spouting incoherent word salads like Bush does, he would be fired on the spot for intoxication. Even garbage men in America must submit to surprise drug urine tests. For safety, the president and his cabinet should get blood and urine tests daily, done by several different labs, especially considering Bush Jr.'s bizarre behaviour and Don Rumsfeld's sudden personality change.
Rumsfeld's transformation is really is striking. Rumsfeld used to be a stuffed shirt squared. Read his collected quotations.
